The Phi Phi Islands are a dramatic limestone archipelago, with sheer cliffs continuing underwater as walls, boulders and sloping reefs. Hard and soft corals, sea fans and shallow coral gardens create beautiful and varied diving.
What really stands out at Phi Phi is the amount of life. Huge schools of fish gather around the reefs, and even familiar reef fish seem to grow bigger and fatter here. Turtles, seahorses and plenty of smaller reef life can be found among the corals, while Phi Phi is also one of the areas where reef sharks are still regularly seen.
Phi Phi is one of our more distant dive destinations. Depending on the season and trip schedule, we may visit with our own boat or arrange the day aboard one of Phuket's larger dive boats, with one of our instructors joining you. Ask us what options are available for your dates.
And there is plenty more to explore. Beyond Phi Phi Leh and the Bida Islands, the wider archipelago includes dive sites such as Hin Klang, Hin Dot, Bamboo Island and Koh Yung (Mosquito Island), as well as the Kled Kaeo wreck. Access to individual sites can change with National Park conservation measures.
The amount of life is classic Phi Phi: large schools of fish gather around the reef, with cuttlefish, seahorses and plenty of smaller creatures among the corals. Blacktip reef sharks are also regularly seen around the island.
Bida Nai mixes sloping reef and huge boulders with steep limestone walls, soft corals, sea fans and enormous barrel sponges. A deeper pinnacle offshore attracts large schools of fusiliers, barracuda and trevally.
Look closer to the reef for turtles, cuttlefish, moray eels, ghost pipefish and nudibranchs.
Phi Phi Leh offers several beautiful dive sites, including Palong Wall, Viking Cave, Loh Samah Bay and Maya Corner. The island's dramatic limestone cliffs continue underwater as walls, boulders and reefs covered in hard and soft corals, sea fans and sponges. Shallower sections often finish in colourful coral gardens packed with fish.
Blacktip reef sharks are one of Phi Phi Leh's special encounters, particularly around Palong, while turtles, seahorses and plenty of smaller creatures give us good reasons to look closely at the reef too.
