About the PADI AWARE Shark & Ray Conservation Specialty
Sharks and rays play an important role in healthy ocean ecosystems, yet many species are increasingly under threat. This course looks beyond the myths to explore their biology, the challenges they face and what divers can do to help protect them.
You'll also learn how to take part in the AWARE Global Shark & Ray Census, recording your observations underwater and contributing real data to shark and ray conservation. And yes — recording that you saw no sharks or rays is useful data too.
There is an optional training dive, but actually seeing a shark or ray is not required.

Better divers
We don’t teach to the minimum requirements. We build skills, good habits and confidence at each diver’s pace, with very small classes and an emphasis on safety, control and respect for the reef.
Safety first
Safety is non-negotiable. Experienced professionals, well-maintained equipment and boat, proper safety equipment, and recognised diving and local standards guide every dive.
Diving with a lighter footprint
Green Fins standards are part of how we dive. We support Oceans For All and take part in reef clean-ups, marine-life monitoring and other conservation activities.
