Palong Wall
Located northwest of Phi Phi Ley Island with Maya Bay, known as The Beach, Palong Wall is undisputed blacktip reef shark paradise! The uninhabited island of Phi Phi Ley is the second largest island in the Phi Phi Archipelago after Phi Phi Don.
The limestone cliffs of this Phi Phi island are 100 to 300 meters high and drop to a depth of four meters, where a large plateau is located. The main reef slopes down from there to 16 to 20 meters. As a rule, the current is mild, usually drifting north. The hard coral reef is very rocky, alternating with large sandy areas. This dive site is known for its spirited blacktip reef sharks, chasing around in shallow water. On some days up to 50 of these harmless sharks, of different sizes, can be seen. This can be a true shark festival, which makes every diver’s heart beat a little faster. However, if the blacktip reef sharks do not show up you can likely enjoy the rare razor fish, many nudibranchs and mantis shrimps.
