With the SSI Divemaster certification in the pocket, the natural progression is the Assistant Instructor course. As a Designated dive professional with a motivation to share your love of diving is the Assistant Instructor program exactly what you are looking for: namely teaching and assisting! In this course you learn how to teach and how to be responsible for others. Under supervision, you will gain first-hand experience in both the classroom and pool. Assistant Instructor is the necessary foundation for teaching on your own and becoming a SSI Open Water Instructor.

SSI Assistant Instructor Course with Aloha Diving in Phuket
As a SSI Assistant Instructor you will lead certified divers on underwater tours, work on dive boats, lead trips, and conduct Scuba Skills Update courses. You will use group management, accident prevention and specialized diving skills. Stress recognition and management are also vital to effective dive mastering, while a fundamental understanding of teaching techniques is essential to conduct e.g. Try Scuba Diving programs.
As an Assistant Instructor, you will help instructors manage students underwater, set up classrooms, and move equipment. In addition to assisting, you can actually teach classroom and pool skills under the direct supervision of an SSI Instructor. Group management, leadership level diving, and stress recognition skills are vital to the assistant instructor role. Also, assistant instructors build valuable experience toward becoming Instructors themselves someday.

Minimum age
18 years

Previous experience in diving
SSI Advanced Open Water Certification or equivalent from another training agency
SSI Diver Stress and Rescue or equivalent
SSI Science of Diving
SSI Dive Guide or equivalent from another training agency
Min. 60 logged dives and 40 hours dive time
Fist Aid Certificate not older than 24 month
Medical Certificate signed by a doctor not older than 12 month
O2 Provider not older than 24 month
